Websites Make A Business
“There are three responses to a piece of design: ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘Wow’. ‘Wow’ is the one to aim for.” That quote by Milton Glaser is what Bryan Roach centers his business around and advice he has to give to future web designers. Bryan found Prodigi Studios which specializes in web design and brand identity design for companies. Brand design is the process for a company to better help a company’s image on social media platforms and promote the company to plenty of future clients. Bryan not only works on brand identity for companies but he also designs website’s for company’s as well. He especially formulated by father’s business website for pest control and termite protection. Bryan believes that websites act as a major piece and cornerstone for a brand’s communication. That’s the main reason he learned to design websites, to better serve his clients. This advice is powerful for any person who is interest in expanding their career in web design. Each person must set their goals to impress, not to have a client say yes or no, but to say wow.
Times Are Changing
Website Design can be a tough career path adhering to each individuals wants with their website for their business, they are always changing. The evolution of online interaction and social media has forced companies to expand their websites with a more creative design to keep visitors attached to that specific website. “They used to serve as ‘digital brochures’ where design was the main focus. Now companies ned marketing strategy, engaging content, and interactive communication to make it successful”. Individuals who want to go into the business of web design must understand that it isn’t just creating an interesting website with cool picture and easy clicks. It’s about creating a strategy, having content that users and future employees can engage in conversation in and the professionals can give their opinion on different things that can be done with blog posts or weekly videos, and about having the business being interactive in social media.
Can You Multi-Task?
Bryan explained to me that social media has taken businesses to the next level of communication with other potential clients. Websites must create an identity within the community and to target people that they wouldn’t normally be able to reach. Through social media, these businesses can reach any person anywhere through interactive media connected to their business’s website. Bryan lists the multi tasking that has to go into website design, “strategic thinking, creative and content marketing skills, compelling design capabilities, effective copywriting, skilled development, knowledge of best-practices for “SEO”, and familiarity with keyword analysis, link structure and website security.”
A business cannot go anywhere without goals, especially for Bryan and his brand identity and design company. A smaller business when starting out, Bryan hopes to expand his client base and expand the business itself. Bringing in more of a clientele for brand identity has an opportunity for Bryan to promote his name among other businesses and expand his brand to many different companies in the state as well as the country.
For A Better Future, Do This
Finally, I asked Bryan what advice he could give to future web designers who want to pursue this career field. The first, and most important, trait that each web designer must have when pursing this career is the ability to listen. Bryan talks about how businesses are always changing their mind and wanting to update their websites and make it as current as possible. As often as social media and the internet is changing, the company has to continue to change to keep future clients happy an entertained.
The next point that Bryan wanted to make for future web designers, is plenty of passion and time must go into your work. “in order to become an expert in a certain field – you need 10 years and 10,000 hours.” Bryan translates this quote as, “great work takes effort, passion, and time…and there is no substitute or short-cut for this”. This, to me, is the most important trait for any business or job that anyone will be involved in. People have become lazy as a culture in today’s world and they are always looking for a short-cut to get things done easier. Taking the time out to sit down and put in the extra effort makes something look much better in the end which in result looks better for the future of any company.
